Pájara, the administrative center of the southern peninsula of Jandía, has a two-block strip of boulevard and pretty wrought-iron street lamps. To see remnants of the ancient wall built across the Jandía peninsula to delineate the island's original tribal territories, head to Matas Blancas (White Groves), 42 km (26 miles) south of Pájara on Highway GC640.
