Why We Like It

This hotel combines modern art with a laid-back attitude on one of the glitziest streets in town. Inside, the stunning atrium lobby is a jaw-dropper, but the real action is on the roof. Throughout the year, this packed hotspot serves up classic cocktails along with live music and DJ sessions that brings in locals and hotel guests in spades. Beyond the minimal design, service is stellar and the location of the hotel allows you to access every part of the city with ease so you can maximize your touristing before hitting the rooftop bar at the end of the night.

Fodor's Expert Review

A member of the Preferred Hotels of the World, Condes de Barcelona is a laid-back abode with a chichi address and a bumping nightlife scene on their glorious rooftop. Minimalist design pervades the property with slick lines and cylindrical walls. The building itself is cut from a 19th Century palace and is an architectural exemplar of the time and place it now resides. A lot of attention is given to service here, and the super friendly staff is willing and able to assist in any needs you have in the city.

Room

Simple rooms have minimalistic style with hardwood floors, work desks, art piece headboards, and giant mirrors. Every room is different in shape and size and there is also a mix of modern and classic as many of the rooms have been renovated. If you book a room on the 7th floor, you’ll be treated with private terraces.

Bathroom

Bathrooms have black or gray slate floors, circular white-tiled rain showers, double vanities, and shaving mirrors. The executive suites have separate showers and tubs and all rooms come with Ritual products.

Lobby

The piece de resistance (pieza de resistencia?) is the cylindrical lobby that is a designer’s dream space. A white spiral staircase leads guests past living wall pods and a hanging curlicue chandelier that reaches to the atrium ceiling. One floor up is a small coffee lounge available to guests throughout the day.

Pool

An infinity pool and hot tub looks out over the city and is surrounded by wood slat floors and white sunbeds. The pool is open from April-October but the roof is available year-round.

Gym

A small gym has hardwood floors, free weights, and TechnoGym machines. There are giant mirrors in case you need to see your bulging biceps up close. A sauna is there as well if you didn’t sweat enough.

Dining

Alaire is the canopied rooftop spot that is a favorite scene for guests and locals. Open for lunch and dinner, diners can nosh on sandwiches and tapas as they stare at the tourists on Passeig de Gràcia down below.

Tip There’s a great set lunch menu here where for 20 Euros you get a few courses and drinks are included!

Drinking

Alaire is also the main bar of the hotel and is generally packed every night of the week. Here you’ll find great cocktails, live music, DJ sessions, and more. Typically, the hottest time to come is between April and October, but you’ll still get a fun scene throughout the rest of the year.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel sits right on Passeig de Gràcia, the fanciest shopping street in the city. With that there are endless taxis and you’re only a 2-minute walk from the nearest metro. Walking around this area is easy and safe and you’re close to some amazing restaurants, nightlife, and boutiques. Within minutes you can get to the city center for some of the best attractions.

Restaurants

For some amazing Catalan cuisine with modern twists, head over to Petit Comite (3-minute walk). Arguably the best restaurant in the entire city is just across the street inside sister hotel Monument. There, you’ll find Lasarte (1-minute walk) a three Michelin-star spot that redefines how eating should be done (for a steep price).

Bars

Head over to Boca Chica (3-minute walk) for signature sips in a fantastical environment. For a wide range of options including cocktails, beer, wine, and vermouth, head over to El Nacional (4-minute walk) which has distinct bars for each.
