Fodor's Expert Review Hôtel Le Royal

There’s no grander stay in the city. Where many central hotels are limited by their cramped historic settings, Le Royal was built in the 1980s and spared little expense. The piano bar is a neon-lit cathedral of booze popular with the business set, who spill in from the boulevard Royal; Amelys is one of the best French restaurants in town (with a decadent gourmet prix-fixe menu); and the spa, sauna, pool, and hammam are well served. Rooms and suites are no less decadent. Privacy-glass windows (darkened at the flick of a switch) separate bathrooms in the larger rooms, where Japanese-style heated toilet seats are an unexpected perk. There’s even a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport and train station.
