Ca' dei Dogi
Corte Santa Scolastica, Castello 4242, Venice, Veneto, 30122, Italy, Venice, ItalyWhy We Like It
It’s hard to find a place in Venice with this great of a location for this small of a price. And you don’t even have to compromise on the charming rooms or the ultra-friendly service.
Fodor's Expert Review
With an amazing location just steps from the Doge’s Palace and Piazza San Marco, cute and contemporary rooms, extremely helpful service—oh, and a very reasonable price tag for Venice—it’s hard to top Ca’ dei Dogi. There’s even an attached restaurant, a very rare thing for a small hotel in this town.
You Should Know There’s no elevator, and some of the rooms are up lots of stairs, so be prepared for some sore legs.

Room
The six rooms and two apartments are all individually decorated with contemporary furnishings and wood floors; some have beamed ceilings. A number of rooms have balconies with wonderful views over the nearby Doge’s Palace. Two of the apartments are great for families, since they have two bedrooms; the Moon apartment even has two bathrooms.
Tip The Sole apartment, in particular, gets rave reviews. Though it’s up six flights of stairs (ouch), it’s large and boasts a kitchen (as do all the apartments) and good-sized terrace with lovely Venice views.
Bathroom
Though most of the bathrooms are small, they’re pretty, lined in marble and with walk-in showers. The Jacuzzi room has—guess what?—a whirlpool in the bathroom.
Lobby
There’s just a check-in desk and pretty much no lobby at Ca’ dei Dogi, but no matter—especially if you’ve gotten a room with a balcony where you can relax with an unbeatable outlook over Venice.
Dining
Taverna dei Dogi serves traditional Italian dishes in a charming atmosphere, with exposed brick walls, leaded glass windows, and checkered tile floors. A scrumptious complementary breakfast is also served here; we’re big fans of the made-to-order omelets.

Getting Around
Though it’s super-easy to walk from Ca’ dei Dogi anywhere around Venice, you’re also only 2 minutes away from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stops, so it’s also super-easy to sail (if usually a bit crowded).
Restaurants
Il Ridotto (1-minute walk) is one of the tastiest modern Italian eateries in town, with innovative dishes and a great wine list. For a splurge (though it gets mixed reviews), the refined Italian cuisine at Michelin-starred Ristorante Quadri (5-minute walk) is worth checking out. Osteria Enoteca San Marco (7-minute walk) is a sophisticated, contemporary Italian bistro with a fine selection of wines.
