Trapani

On Sicily’s west coast, Trapani is said to have been formed when the goddess Demeter, searching for her kidnapped daughter Persephone, dropped her sickle in despair; it fell here, forming the crescent shoreline. Today, the blue-collar port city exudes few celestial qualities, but earns increasing affection from visitors for its cultural events, Baroque architecture, and unspoiled beaches.
