Fodor's Expert Review Desmond Castle and the International Museum of Wine
Kinsale
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
This museum occupies a 15th-century fortified town house—originally a custom house—that has a dark history. It was used as a prison for French and American seamen in the 1700s, and was subsequently a jail and then a workhouse. Now it contains displays that tell the story of the wine trade and its importance to the Irish diaspora in France, America, Australia, and New Zealand.
