Fodor's Expert Review Musée de l'Érotisme

Montmartre

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

What better place for the Museum of Erotic Art than smack in the heart of the city's red-light district? Though the subject matter is rather limited, the collection features a respectable mix of world art (think carvings from Africa, Indonesia, and Peru, plus Chinese ivories and Japanese prints). It also has racy cartoons by Robert Crumb and photographs of Pigalle prostitutes and bordellos, some quite chic, from the 1930s and 1940s. Three floors are dedicated to temporary exhibits by contemporary artists and photographers.
