Why We Like It

A hotel that embodies the neighborhood to some extent, the Dean Street Townhouse is a fun, trendy hotel that offers everyone the chance to live in the heart of Soho—if only for a night. Romantic and evocative of a Soho of late nights and strong drinks, it’s a hotel for the style conscious. Staff are attentive and accommodating and always happy to direct you to the neighborhood’s myriad charms.

Fodor's Expert Review

The bawdy, sleazier side of central Soho may have disappeared somewhat, but the neighborhood is still one of central London’s hippest and the Dean Street Townhouse is the ultimate home from home to explore it’s buzzing nightlife, shopping and culture. A lively, sociable hotel with a killer restaurant—with enviable art collection—and cocktail bar, it’s the ideal place to stay if you want to be surrounded by the pulsating throng of Soho life.

You Should Know Appealing to couples with its buzzy bar scene and fun central Soho location, families won’t find this a hotel suited to their needs.

Room

Think sumptuous berber carpets, heavy drapes, rich upholstered furniture and stylish textiles in rooms that whisper understated chic. Available in five sizes, larger rooms feature the benefit of standalone tubs offering views over Dean Street from the comfort of a bubble bath.

You Should Know While the glazing does its job, street facing rooms are susceptible to low level noise—particularly on weekends.

Bathroom

While some rooms come with standalone bathtubs, all feature walk-in rainforest showers with Cowshed toiletries.

Lobby

The Dean Street Townhouse is a member of the Soho House empire so unsurprisingly the hotel’s lobby has the air of a private members’ club about it. Like a cozy living room, the discreet check-in desk is flanked by a wood burning stove and plush armchairs should you want to take a load off while you wait.

Dining

The romantic old Dining Room serves reassuringly refined British classics like mince and potatoes and Sussex lamb to red leather booths and intimate tables covered with classic white cloths under candlelight.

Tip A late night menu offers a compact list of classics should late returnees want to forego the lottery of the traditional London street kebab.

Drinking

Guests can choose to drink their exceptional rye old fashioned at the restaurant bar to bask a nostalgic old Soho vibe, or retire to the bar where cocktails can be enjoyed into the early hours from the comfort of ritzy wing back arm chairs.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Within easy walking distance of all of the West End’s first-rate shopping, restaurants, bars and cultural attractions, the hotel is well-placed for those enjoying a short stay who don’t want to think about the hassle of travel. However, Tottenham Court Road Tube offers connections to the rest of the city should you want to get out of Soho.

Restaurants

There is a no-reservations policy at Hoppers (4-minute walk) but the spicy Sri Lankan cuisine is worth the queues. The seasonal menu at 10 Greek Street (4-minute walk) is always a winner and if you want to eat at a Soho legend then book for Quo Vadis (5-minute walk).

Bars

Never visit Soho without quaffing a glass of red wine at the French House. For cocktails beyond the bar at the Dean Street Townhouse, book ahead at Milk & Honey or just walk-in to Bar Termini and sample one of Soho’s best negronis.
