Across the street from two of the main lifts, this family-managed five-star hotel started life as a tavern in 1741 and is now providing hospitality of an altogether more luxurious variety. Part of Romantik Hotels & Restaurants, it maintains the chain's ethos of family ownership, tradition, and high quality. Adaptations and modernization have not affected the comfort and well-being reflected in the beamed ceilings, tile stoves, Oriental carpets, and natural wood. Appliances in gold and silver add sparkle, and starry-ceilinged bathrooms add romance. The Panorama Restaurant, one of the town's best, is noted for game and regional specialties.
