Fodor's Expert Review Pelican Bay Hotel

Close to the beach with rooms overlooking Port Lucaya Marina or waterfront along the canal, Pelican Bay has a funky modern appeal, and suites overflow with character and decorative elements collected from around the world. Building exteriors are fancifully trimmed in West Indian latticework and red barrel-tile roofs. The waterfront suites have extras like rain showers, espresso machines, and boxes built into the doors into which fresh pastries are delivered each morning (a full continental breakfast is also available). On-site amenities include two great restaurants and two trendy bars, three pools and a hot tub, and a small playground. The hotel is a quick and easy walk to Lucaya Beach and Port Lucaya Marketplace, and next door to UNEXSO—a plus for divers. Taino Beach is accessible via ferry.
