Getting Here and Around

Nuku’alofa, indeed the whole of Tongatapu (Tonga), is flat and easily walkable (although taxis [indicated by the letter ‘T’ on their license tags] are recommended for attractions out of town). Inflation is high in Tonga, and prices change quickly. In-town taxi fare is T$1–T$2, but trips outside of town can cost up to T$80. Not all taxis are metered, and prices should be negotiated before your ride begins.
