Palliser Bay and Cape Palliser

This, the most southerly part of the North Island's coast, can be a wild and desolate area in winter. But the lighthouse and seal colony at Cape Palliser are well worth seeing, as are the eerie rock formations in Putangirua Pinnacles Scenic Reserve. Wedged between the bay and a lagoon, Lake Ferry is a great spot to enjoy rugged scenery on a good day.
