It's not really a café, and it's not strictly French—that aside, it is one of Auckland's best and most consistent restaurants. Simon Wright is an informed chef who creates inspired dishes that revolve around what is in season. At TFC (as some call it), one table will be chatty young entrepreneurs while the next is old-money dowagers having a "girls' night out." Service is understand and smart—efficient, friendly without attitude. The wine list is comprehensive and includes hard-to-find vintages. There is also an excellent degustation menu.
