The city of Kanchanaburi is home to interesting and sometimes moving World War II historic sites, among them the Bridge on the River Kwai. In and around the city are museums, cave temples, tribal villages, and waterfalls. Hiking, rafting and elephant trekking are among the main activities. Kanchanaburi is the main access point to the large national parks of western Thailand, including Erawan, Muang Singh, and Sai Yok.
