Everything old is new again: the Capitol, once a boxy 29-floor commercial complex designed by architect Kengo Kuma and run by Hilton, has a long history that includes hosting the Beatles. After a four-year full reconstruction, it reopened in 2010 as a quiet retreat in the middle of the metropolis, drawing luxury travelers. The spacious guest rooms, tastefully decorated with blond-wood furniture and dove-gray textiles, occupy the building's upper floors. Guests staying on Club Floors (27–29) are entitled to complimentary breakfast and cocktails in the Capitol Lounge SaRyoh, which has spectacular views of the city. Four prized suites on the fifth floor overlook the nearby Hie Shrine.
