Fodor's Expert Review Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu
1–12–2 Dogenzaka, Tokyo, Tokyo-to, 150-0043, Japan
The key to this unremarkable but very convenient hotel within the towering Mark City complex is access: local shopping and cheap dining options are plentiful, Shinjuku is a five-minute train ride to the north, and the Narita Express departs from nearby Shibuya Station frequently each morning. Guest rooms, decorated in shades of beige and yellow, are plain but comfortable. For families the extra space in the triple and quad rooms is worth the higher charges. North-facing rooms on the 10th floor and above (including the ladies-only floor on level 20) have views of the Shinjuku skyline. The vibrant Estacion Cafe, above Shibuya's insanely busy “scramble” intersection, serves drinks and small snacks.
PROS
- affordable
