One of the truly hip new hotels Hong Kong has to shout about, The Fleming is all creative cool and chic style. Located in Wan Chai in a relatively nondescript block on Fleming Road, the hotel is sure to bring the cool crowd to this end of the neighborhood. The décor at The Fleming is inspired by the Star Ferry, which means plenty of warm woods, deep greens and gold for interior fans to fawn over.
You Should Know As beautiful as the hotel is, the location close to the Gloucester Road flyover can feel a little moody. Although, the proliferation of laundromats and blue collar bushiness on the streets around the hotel definitely fit the salt of the earth, industrial image of the Star Ferry.

Room
Less like the ubiquitous ‘comfortable’ look of the average Hong Kong hotel room, the wooden floorboards, weathered brass fixtures, custom beds and artistic photography of Hong Kong, the Harbour and its Star Ferry make for a gorgeous look. Bedside USB ports and lighting controls give a nod to tech.
Bathroom
Polished dark green tiles and more brass fixtures add to a bathroom that comes straight from the pages of Architectural Digest. Walk-in showers are in every room.
Lobby
We love the sofa at the center of the first-floor lobby, whose back-rest flips like those on the Star Ferry. It’s these details that make The Fleming a cut above. Coffee table art books and ‘The Fleming’ branded goods from umbrellas to leather travel cases decorate the small but perfectly curated space.
Dining
The ground floor restaurant is operated by a third party who bring a similar style aesthetic to the space. Focusing on the southern Italian cuisine of the Puglia region, Osteria Marzia is a great option for all day dining.

Getting Around
The Fleming is well located within walking distance of everything from the Convention Centre to the bars of Lockhart Road. Taxis are everywhere or Wan Chai MTR is a five-minute walk away.
Restaurants
There’s plenty of choice within easy reach of The Fleming so spend some time eating your way around the area. First off, head to Fook Lam Moon (9-minute walk) for dim sum and tea. Next, visit Under the Bridge Spicy Crab (10-minute walk), a Hong Kong institution and the best place to sample the specialty spicy crab.
Bars
While Wan Chai used to be a seedy neighborhood filled with dive bars, the area has changed a lot. Some of the bars remain seedy, but in more of an ironic sort of way. Go exploring and seek out Ham and Sherry (9-minute walk), a restaurant whose speakeasy cocktail bar is accessed by a separate entrance. Alternatively, hit up the early evening happy hour at Stone Nullah Tavern (10-minute walk) and order side dishes of contemporary American classics.
