São Tome

This is the most laid-back capital city—or rather town—that you can imagine. With only around 5,000 people populating the island, its largest city is a mellow locale, with distressed pastel colors on its aging colonial buildings. A bit of an art scene exists, but not much goes on here. There’s a church to check out, and a chocolate shop. Nightlife means a couple of little discos and a casino, but this is by no means Vegas. Not even close.
