Fodor's Expert Review Rokach House

Neveh Tzedek Historic Home

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Built in 1887, the home of Neve Tzedek founder Shimon Rokach had fallen into disrepair and was slated for demolition before being reclaimed and restored in the 1980s by his granddaughter, artist Leah Majaro-Mintz. It now houses an exhibit of items from the quarter's early days, as well as pieces of her own art. Guided tours in English are available by calling ahead. A cabaret-style performance (in Hebrew) showcasing Neve Tzedek's history, preceded by samples of the period's cuisine, is offered for groups on Thursday and Friday evening at 8:30 pm.
