Where to stay in the Algarve with young children?
Hello, I am asking for my daughter and her husband who will be traveling to Portugal and Greece in July with young children.
They are wanting to stay along the coast, relax on the beach, and be able to walk in town and enjoy meals, the culture, shopping, and any activities two five year olds would enjoy.
Can anyone recommend a town that would fit this? They will have a car, so proximity to other villages to visit would be advantageous as well.
Thank you.

I didn’t post specifics, but remembered reading something about many of the beaches in the Algarve being pretty rough and, in places, unsafe with big waves, undertow and heavy surf as well as cliffs that are unstable. There seem to be safer beaches in other areas. Anyway, with young children, they will want to do some research and those web sites seemed informative.

The Algarve to the east of FAro has large sandbanks to the south of the land which protect the majority of the beaches from the worst of water movement from the Atlantic. You can go out onto these sandbanks and swim in the Atlantic proper, with the hazards that involves.
Obviously where the sandbanks open out or end there will be additional flows.
You can see these on Google maps especially around Tavira
Why Greece and Portugal? July will be very hot and the wild fires will be at their worst about then
