Family road-trip from Illinois to Utah need stop ideas
This is our First family cross country road trip so we need help planning stopping points along the way. We will most likely be traveling on 80W and 76W. Any help with ideas of something we can stop a do or look at to stretch our legs or possibly places to stay overnight with things to do ?!? Any help is appreciated! TIA

Welcome to Fodor’s!
When will you be making the drive? Summer?
Tell us a bit more so we will be able to help you. How old are the children? Any special interests? History? Hiking? A place with a petting zoo wouldn’t be a good fit for teens!
How many drivers? Are you able to estimate the distance you will be able to cover per day? When my daughters were young, 400 miles was about our limit, with plenty of time for rest stops and a picnic lunch and arrival at our destination before dinner time. Many families routinely will travel much further, depending on how they split the driving, how early they are on the road, how late they are willing to be driving.
A pool at the overnight hotel was always a treat after a long day in the car, or a day of sightseeing.
