Argentina and on to Antarctica Dec 2023
A mini semi-live report.
After 24 hours in transit from LAX to EZE, the trip begins.
I went with Aeromexico /Delta with a 5 hour layover because I like the 787 Dreamliner. No interest in tighter connections I need my checked bag with the winter gear to arrive with me. Immigration took long enough that it was already waiting off the carousel. Both flights were fine, all airports were busy with long walks. AM sent me an upgrade offer, buy all three seats in a row for the 9 hour leg and I did.
I am at a basic but comfortable and quiet hotel in Recoleta for two nights. Thanks to the rapid and drastic devaluation of ARS, it is $35 a night!!

After some early morning rains I was able to on a a prearranged tour of the Parana Delta (booked directly with deltaunplugged dot com). It included some excellent food. Starting with a light breakfast snack of tea and 3 home-baked breads. Following a tour of the property, we set out to cruise around one of the delta islands and as far as the Parana de las Palmas tributary.
Lunch was wonderful, accompanied by white and red Malbec of course, and after return to the property we had two flavors of ice cream , mate and ginger. And ended with the traditional drink.
Plus, three new birds for the life list.

Humid and overcast, now sunny and hot.
Morning at Recoleta Cemetery and ice creams from Freddo . Radio taxi transfer from "A Hotel" to the included Emperador was 2000 ARS rounded up. Room was not ready at 3pm, luggage being held in lobby. Typical big hotel deal, at least the room is updated and huge.
Luggage has to be packed by 8pm, breakfast at 4AM, leave at 5AM for Ushuaia.

Domestic flight this morning. EZE airports screening takes an hour. Our ship is projected about half capacity (250 of 500).
Last night I picked some empanadas at El Sanjuanino. Popped into this place
