First time visitors, family with tweens, 5 days in June

Hi all-

Excited for our first visit to Montreal and Canada week of June 19th! I am plotting out our list of activities to bring so we can have plans but be flexible and I always find value starting with this group!

We have two 12 year olds and are staying in down town at Le Square Philips. We like exploring neighborhoods, unique local shops, parks, and some outdoor activities! Excited for the pedestrian areas, street performers and people watching as well.

We like casual but tasty food, beer (adults), boba (kids), and trying local faves. I'm a vegetarian but the rest of the fam eats whatever. We are two moms so village recs welcome as well.

Here's my running list so far. Anything you'd add? I .also between bringing our bikes to use for the week and renting for a day. Would love thoughts on that!

Restaurants and food

1. Jardin Nelson

2. Brasseur de Montreal

3. Les Enfants Terribles (view)

4. La Banquise

5. Fairmount or St. Viateur Bagels

6. Pizza Il Focolaio

7. Boba- L2 Desserts Lounge (Chinatown) or Nos Thes (the village)

8. Atwater Market

Activities

1. Mont Royal

2. Bike Lachine Canal

3. Olympic Park and Space for Life (botanic gardens etc)

4. Pointe-à-Callière museum

5. Notre Dame Basilica - Aura show

6. Jardins Gamelin- outdoor performance?

Walking around and shopping areas

1.. Explore old Montreal & Port - Rue St. Paul, Place Jacque Carier, de la Commune Street between Saint-Gabriel Street and Bonsecour Street

2. Explore Plateau - Mont Royal From Saint-Laurent Boulevard to Fullum Street; Duluth between St-Laurent and St-Hubert,

3. Explore Mile End

4. Explore Village- Saint-Catherine Street East

5. Explore downtown - Sainte-Catherine Street West, between De Bleury Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard

Thank you!

Wow - great plan. You may not have time for all you have planned however. The Botanical Gardens and Insectarium can easily fill up a day. Same for a Lachine Canal bike ride, especially if you stop at Atwater for lunch. The one thing you might consider - if you can still get tickets, Cirque Du Soleil is quite the experience.

So how did your trip end up? Our family of 5 is going next week and I’m looking over what your plan was.
