Trip to Providence, Rhode Island
Hi. My wife and I are going to Providence, RI in mid July. We are in our 60's and very active. Looking for recommendations on the following:
1. Hotel in stay at downtown. One with a good location.
2. Restaurants
3. Things to do
Thanks.....

Hotel Providence is very nice and has a good central location. The Renaissance is also very nice and The Graduate Hotel (formerly the Biltmore) often has huge King suites that are only $10-$20 more than the regular king rooms. The only Providence hotel that I would really say to avoid is the Providence Hilton.
Palo Tapas Bar is excellent and I've heard that Harry's Bar & Burger is very good. Cafe Nuovo if you're looking for fine dining.

Providence used to be an annual visit for us staying at the former Westin Hotel now an Omni. It has the advantage of a covered walkway to the mall if you want to do shopping. Liked the old time style of the former Biltmore. Some people love Water Fire if there is one scheduled during your visit. But we don't like crowds. Most recent RI visit we stayed midway between Providence and Newport so we could enjoy both. Loved the Rhode Red food tour in Providence.
