Sienna at night

Is it safe to walk around Sienna at night on the dark, narrow streets?

I've never had any problems. How late at night are you talking about?

FYI - For search purposes, it's spelled Siena.

I believe the ghost of Siena only emerges during a full moon. You're safe otherwise.

What is your concern?

Would like to walk around after dinner and then back to hotel rather than finding a cab or bus, if possible. Just would like to know if this is safe for tourists to do in Siena. Thanks for all input.

Do you mean that you're afraid that you'll be mugged?

Or that you'll have partaken of too much wine and will stagger and fall down.

Definitely safe. Bring a flashlight if the dark, narrow streets are a concern.

I've walked around Rome after dinner by myself.

For sure it is safe, walking after a meal is how you find gelato. Try not to trip over small children out with their parents

I would feel very comfortable doing so -- I use my iphone flashlight if I need a light.

Gelato is eagerly anticipated. Love hearing about the kids being out with their parents. Thank you for safety reassurance.

Looks like you are from the U.S.?
Narrow streets in the U.S. = abandoned side streets
Narrow streets in Siena = main streets

streets at 9pm in the U.S. outside theater/restaurant districts = abandoned
streets at 11pm in Siena = single women walking alone

You biggest risks are cobblestones streets and hills in the dark. Map least challenging route back to your hotel before it gets dark. Ask your hotel for suggestions. Bus/taxis are useful in getting into or out of Siena. It is not convenient within Siena.

No problem. We felt very safe walking around Siena at night, even on dark deserted streets.

Where is your hotel? If in the old town and you are eating there, no problem walking. You might consider having an after dinner drink on the Campo (if you don't have a meal there or gelato). Great view.
