Luggage storage in Orvieto?

Hi Everyone,

Was hoping someone has the above information as I have read conflicting answers to this question. We are hoping to drop off our rental car in Orvieto and would like to spend some time exploring the city, but not with luggage. Since we are returning on a Saturday, we have to have the car there before noon.

Thanks for any info.

I've researched this same question. There is no luggage storage at the train station in Orvieto. I've repeatedly read that there's a hotel--the Hotel Picchio--near the train station that will store your bags for a small charge (maybe five euro a bag?). You might contact the hotel to verify.

We dropped off our rental car at Hertz in Orvieto and wanted to look around before entraining for Rome. The woman in the Hertz office let us leave our bags in the office, opposite the train station, while we toured the town. As you likely know, the funicular to the upper town is right at the station. Ideal.

On re-reading I am guessing that the reference to noon means the rental company closes for the weekend at that hour, so my suggestion is of minimal use to you.

Thanks for the info. Will contact Hotel Picchio and inquire.

kybourbon, thanks for the link. If Hotel Picchio still houses luggage, someone had a great idea to drive there first before dropping off the car in order not to drag the luggage uphill. What a great hint!

Tedgale, that would have been ideal except for the early closing.
